Wheaton College Conservatory of Music professors will perform from their unique musical expertise alongside guest musicians in evening performances throughout the fall 2022 semester.
Performances will be held in the Armerding Center for Music and the Arts’s Recital Hall or its state-of-the-art, 650-seat Concert Hall. Open to the public with a ticket purchase, proceeds from each faculty showcase support the continued growth of the arts at Wheaton. Additional performance information can be found below. Instrumental Inspiration: Anton, Benny, and Javier
Date: Monday, Sept. 26, 2022

Location: Armerding Center for Music and the Arts Concert Hall, 520 Kenilworth Ave. on Wheaton’s campus.
Performed by faculty artists Lee Joiner, Trevor O’Riordan, Michael Messer, Brian Torosian, Lilian Chou, Paul Zafer, and Diane Chou, Instrumental Inspiration: Anton, Benny, and Javier is inspired by clarinetists Anton Stadler and Benny Goodman and guitarist Javier Farías. From the repertoire, Andean Suite (2016) by Javier Farías features distinctive sounds of the guitar and strings in music from various regions of the Andes mountains. Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, inspired by Anton Stadler, is one of the pristine gems of the chamber repertoire.

Back and Forth featuring the Bradley Williams / Amy Jill Quartet

Wheaton Conservatory’s professor of jazz piano and voice, Bradley Williams, presents a fun evening of jazzy duets alongside his wife and collaborator of 18 years, vocalist Amy Jill. Included are duet songs from their recently released CD, “Back and Forth.” The material spans Gershwin, the off-Broadway icon “The Fantasticks,” lively Brazilian fare, Rodgers and Hart, Cole Porter, and one of their favorites, Cy Coleman. With a musical repartee humorous, sentimental, and romantic, they echo the spirit of Jackie and Roy, Fred and Ginger, and Burns and Allen. Accompaniment by longtime partners Dan DeLorenzo on upright bass and Michael Schlick at the drum kit.

Works of Xavier Beteta
Date: Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022

Location: Armerding Center for Music and the Arts Concert Hall, 520 Kenilworth Ave. on Wheaton’s campus.
Composer and pianist Xavier Beteta will be performing some of his piano works that document his evolution as a composer. The program includes works he wrote when he was 16 up to the present, including two piano sonatas, an impromptu, and his works miniatures fantastiques and noche profunda.
