Meet Our Staff
Dr. Karen Hurula, Psy.D.
Director
Dr. Hurula trained in a variety of settings including the Wheaton College Counseling Center. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship with training in Anxiety/OCD treatment, and psychology and religion integration. Dr. Hurula believes strongly in the mind/body/soul connection and enjoys helping individuals with spiritual questions, as well as sexual orientation/gender identity concerns. Dr. Hurula is an MK/TCK, who was raised by her missionary parents in Mexico City, Mexico, and speaks Spanish fluently. Her professional memberships include: American Psychological Association and the Christian Association for Psychological Studies. Dr. Hurula enjoys reading, a variety of crafts and art-related hobbies as well as working on her golf game.
Donna Aldridge, M.A., L.C.P.C.
Staff Therapist
Donna Aldridge is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College graduate school. She enjoys working with college and graduate students and has been at the Counseling Center since 2008. Prior to this, Donna has worked in a variety of clinical settings including private practice, adoption agency, inpatient hospital unit and in the Central DuPage Hospital ER as a crisis counselor. Donna’s specialty areas include eating disorders, family issues, sexual abuse, and depression. She also has experience with those in the military, athletes, and adoptees. When she is not working, Donna enjoys spending time with her family, especially her grandson, watching sports and favorite shows, going for walks, drinking coffee, and dreaming about her next trip to Disney World.
Madhu Balasubramaniam, M.A., N.C.C., L.P.C.
Staff Therapist
Madhu is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wheaton College. She is currently under the supervision of Dr. Karen Hurula at the Counseling Center. Madhu is from South Asia and is a dietician by training. Before coming to Wheaton, she had worked extensively in the field of anti-human trafficking, post-traumatic care in cross-cultural settings, and has incorporated art in therapy. Madhu works with people across the lifespan and currently works at a community-based mental health setting catering to people from marginalized communities. In addition to serving a wide range of clientele from multicultural settings with various presentations, Madhu is passionate about serving people with trauma, family distress, and identity issues. Madhu’s therapeutic orientation is holistic and eclectic. Madhu loves people, nature, enjoys hosting, cooking, and painting.
Christian Jahng, L.C.P.C.
Staff Therapist
Christian Jahng completed graduate work in Rehabilitation Counseling from Fresno State University in central California. Christian received a B.A. in Social Science/Psychology from University of California at Irvine. Career exploration led him to delightful places in Pennsylvania, Kansas and Montana. After a 4 year stint in the US Army - 82nd Airborne with 17 jumps, Christian gained experience at Fullerton College Disability Support Services, as a Life Coach serving adults with developmental disabilities, inpatient, outpatient, child/youth, and residential counseling treating anxiety, grief/loss, trauma, depression, addictions and boundary issues. With a warm, strengths-based therapeutic style, he brings his love of self-compassion to work with students. Christian enjoys traveling with his wife, participating in a church-family, running/hiking especially in new scenic areas, reading, concerts, following sports/athletes, and playing with Kirby - an affectionate Corgi, and Clementine - an energetic Border Collie.
Kedisha Kelly, L.P.C.
Staff Therapist
Kedisha Kelly is a Licensed Profession Counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wheaton College, and is currently under the supervision of Dr. Karen Hurula at the Counseling Center. She is passionate about the integration of faith and psychology, and how the stewardship of both is necessary for human wellness and flourishing. Kedisha considers it a privilege to work with college students during a stage that can be developmentally challenging. She seeks to equip them with the life tools and understanding needed for emotional intelligence, healing and personal growth. During her spare time, Kedisha enjoys having conversations with friends, watching movies, eating/cooking and playing sports.
Christine S. Kim, M.A., N.C.C., L.P.C.
Staff Therapist
Christine received a M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and considers it a humble privilege to serve both Christians and non-Christians on campus and at her private practice. Prior to becoming a therapist, she has worked at college settings for over 15 years as an English as s Second Language faculty, manager, and advisor in Illinois, California, and Arkansas with internationals and immigrants to fulfill their academic goals. Christine is devoted to educating, counseling, and serving students who are experiencing a season of challenge, adjustment, pain, and struggles through exploring together in a safe, empathic, and nonjudgmental space. She believes in the mind-body-soul integration and ascribes to an integrative evidence-based, solution-focused, and strength-based interventions to address a wide range of distress from anxiety, depression, identity, relational conflict, grief, and trauma to life transitions. Christine is a 1.5 generation Korean-American who considers Wheaton “a second home” having received a B.A. and M.A. from Wheaton College. She enjoys learning about people’s stories, singing, watching movies, hosting, traveling, and serving others.
Holly Miller, L.P.C.
Staff Therapist
Holly is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wheaton College. During her final year of graduate school, she interned at the Counseling Center and became a staff therapist after graduation. Holly also served as a counselor for refugees resettled in the U.S. from over 20 countries. As a first-generation immigrant, Holly has a specific interest in issues related to life transitions, intercultural dynamics, and emerging adulthood. She also specializes in family-of-origin issues, neurodivergence, and trauma. Holly believes in the mind-body-soul connection and employs an insight-oriented, mindfulness-based approach in her counseling sessions. Outside of work, she enjoys ice skating, drawing, and caring for her plants
Marie Morrison, Ph.D.
Staff Therapist
Marie is a licensed Clinical Psychologist. Before coming to Wheaton, she counseled university students in Cambridge, UK, and London. Marie holds a Master’s degree in Counselling and a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. In addition to Canada and the UK, she has served as a counselor in refugee camps in Greece, and as a consultant and counselor at a school, orphanage, and university in Kenya. Marie’s areas of clinical interest include anxiety and depression, and the intersectionality of race, culture, gender, religion, and emerging adulthood. Marie is originally from Nova Scotia and enjoys hiking, cycling, music, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Dr. Tammy Schultz, Ph.D., L.C.P.C., L.M.H.C., N.C.C.
Staff Therapist
Tammy Schultz Ph.D., L.C.P.C. (IL), L.M.H.C. (IN), N.C.C. is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She is professor, Clinical Training Coordinator, and Trauma Certificate Co-coordinator for the Wheaton College Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Tammy believes that the relationship between a therapist and student is integral and, if the relationship is developed, a variety of interventions can be utilized successfully. Tammy appreciates the mind body connection and takes a holistic approach to wellness. She has a particular passion for journeying with students as they contend with trauma, family of origin issues, anxiety and depression, and shame.
