Feeling anxious about your student's future? You are not alone, and neither are they! The CVC is here to walk with them on their journey, and we are here to help you walk with them, too. Here are some steps you can take:
- As a first step, encourage your student to come into the CVC space anytime during open hours! They can do a drop-in with a student ambassador for some peer-to-peer advice, or make a longer appointment with a coach. Explore appointment services here.
- Help your student register for an event. Our events page has a year-to-year breakdown of events for first-years, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
- Study the different stages of the career exploration process with your student. The CVC has specific resources for each stage of the process here.
- Encourage your students to pursue internships! Check out the CVC's academic, financial, and professional resources for internships here.
- Check out Wheaton's parent newsletter here. There is a CVC section in this letter that we update every month with upcoming news, events, and resources!
Classrooms, departments, and offices are some of the greatest points of impact for students! We are eager to come alongside you and offer our resources for you to incorporate in your work. Here are a few steps you can take to lead your students toward vocational discernment today:

- Participate in a CVC event! Faculty attendance or participation in an event is a great way to increase student attendance. Check out our events here.
- Familiarize yourself with the 8 Career Readiness Competencies from The National Association for Colleges and Educators (NACE). This is a list of the top competencies that employers seek in recent college graduates, according to NACE's research. Use this list to help a student translate their liberal arts education in terms comprehensible by the world of employers (or parents). You can also help students grow in one or more of these competencies by incorporating them into your courses.
- Explore our Career Education menu to check out the resources we offer at every stage of the discernment process. Fill out the jotform above for more information on these resources.
