I was born in Northern Wisconsin and spent the first few years of my life living in the UP. From there, I spent my growing up years in Waukesha, WI. My younger brother and I were blessed to be raised in a first-generation Christian home. I first fell in love with nursing in high school through a medical occupations class. My mom, in all her wisdom, suggested that I work in a nursing home before deciding that nursing was where God was calling me. It was hard work, but after a few short months, I knew that this was where God had called me to be. I remained local after high school and attended Carroll College (just a block from my parent’s house). I graduated from Carroll with a degree in Nursing and worked at the local hospital on a Medical/Surgical floor and then moved on to a Hospital Supervisory role. In 2000, I was blessed to meet my husband and we have three kids; Eliana, Nolan, and Mollie.
I grew up in a Christian home and have been a follower of Christ for as long as I can remember. There have been many influential relationships throughout my faith journey that have helped me grow deeper in my knowledge of who Jesus is and who He has called me to be. Through these relationships, I have continued to be molded and shaped by our gracious creator. Throughout my nursing career, I have felt God’s presence as I care for those sick; physically, mentally, spiritually. It is my prayer that I will be able to continue to use the gifts and talents that He has given me to serve the staff, students, and campers at HoneyRock.
I first came to HoneyRock as a parent when dropping off our oldest at Intro Camp. All I could think about was; is she even old enough to be here? Since that BIG drop-off day, we have been coming every year. I am so excited to be able to join the HoneyRock staff as the Health Center Coordinator. Our family enjoys all things outdoors, and being a part of the HoneyRock family is an added blessing. My favorite thing about HoneyRock is the many opportunities for leadership development and emphasis on serving others that occurs as campers experience God through outdoor experiences, authentic community and daily learning opportunities. My hope is to be a calm, reassuring presence for parents and campers, as well as staff and students as they spend time in the beauty of God’s creation here at HoneyRock.
