Clarence & Elizabeth Wyngarden Scholar, Benjamin Allen Peays Award
Tanya fled her country when war broke out in February 2022. She testifies to the Lord’s faithfulness and goodness that allowed her to find refuge in the U.S. and at HoneyRock. From tent camping in the woods to work with the Association of Christian Camps and Conference Centers-Ukraine, Tanya develops and teaches courses for counselor and program leaders; this work is expected to expand to four additional countries after her Wheaton education

Almas has extensive experience being a good neighbor in different countries; he is “conscious of the limits of contextualization”. He is eager for these theological studies at Wheaton to help him navigate these boundaries effectively. He and his wife serve Muslim asylum seekers and refugees and Ukrainian refugees in Cardiff, Wales where 1 in 10 people identify as Muslim.

Anna grew up on the mission field in Slovakia. She experienced significant loss and has encountered the tenacity of the Lord holding on to her. She and her husband are proactively taking steps including this M.A. program and their church’s missionary preparation program toward long-term overseas member-care service likely in Eastern Europe.

Brane thought “peace would come to his head but instead it came to his heart” when he realized he couldn’t fix himself. He leads a team within IFES Slovenia and senses the need for formal training to develop his hermeneutics, teaching, and writing skills on the topics of Christian formation and Christian worldview related to contemporary societal issues.

Mongolia to Afghanistan - Clinical Mental Health Counseling
James R. Graham, Jr. Scholar, William & Loretta Gaunt Fund
U.B. is a medical missionary with the Mongolia Mission Center to Afghanistan, especially the Hazara people. “When there is war, there is no peace, no prosperity, no perspective for long term and people suffer to unexplainable depths.” She trusts this degree will help her care for fellow Mongolian missionaries and one day return to Afghanistan where the “scale of suffering …is difficult to fathom.”
