What does STAASAC stand for?
STAASAC (pronounced “STAY-sack”) is the Student Technology and Auxiliary Services Advisory Committee. This group of thirteen students (our largest group ever!) is chaired by Mia Posey, Student Government Executive Vice President of Technology and Campus Services. They represent you as part of the technology governance structure of Wheaton College. They meet once a quad with representatives from AIT and Auxiliary Services to discuss related issues that affect both undergraduate and graduate students.
For example, at a recent meeting, STAASAC was asked for input on which outdoor campus locations need better/stronger Wi-Fi. We hope to make these changes in the spring so by the time it is nice enough to study outside again (April? Maybe March if we’re extra blessed?) there should be stronger Wi-Fi on the Traber/Smith front lawn, among other places.
Take a minute to see who the student representatives on STAASAC are. You are welcome to reach out to any of them with questions/concerns on any technology or Auxiliary Services-related topic. This group provides input on things like updating CPO hours and creating a faux app for the Wheaton Portal to use on your mobile devices. They can bring any questions or concerns you have to the attention of AIT or Auxiliary Services.
