Thank You from Wendy
A message from our Chief Information Officer, Wendy Woodward:
As the new academic year gets underway I was reflecting on how technology has become so entwined with many of our personal, academic, and professional lives, and how much technology-related change we have all experienced over the past two and a half years. Together we have improved the College’s data and information security posture; adopted productivity enhancements with calendaring and other automated business processes; strengthened teaching and scholarship; enhanced the student experience; and much more. Your extraordinary commitment to the mission of Wheaton College and willingness “to do the right thing” has made all of this possible, and for that I am so grateful.
I am especially grateful for the many people from across campus who have generously shared their time to speak into the Technology@Wheaton governance process. Their input has been invaluable as representatives of the broader Wheaton community as we continue to work collaboratively towards reasonable technology solutions for the greater good.
As the nature of technology involves ongoing change, opportunities continue to present themselves. Thus, I ask for your extended grace as we work together to implement technology strategies that support the mission of the College. Over the next 12-18 months many administrative departments are going to be striving to upgrade our Banner system from version 8 to version 9. This upgrade should provide an easier-to-use Banner system for all of us. Part of the project will include the re-alignment of business processes with best practices so we can more fully leverage the automation capabilities that exist within Banner 9. For more information about this exciting change, see the What’s New and Changing article on the AIT website.
The Academic and Information Technology (AIT) and Technology@Wheaton teams are fully committed to assisting each of you with training as we continue to introduce new systems and processes.
With appreciation,
Wendy Woodward
