Transfer Student Information

Welcome to Wheaton College! As a transfer student, we know you have questions and concerns that are unique to your situation, and we would love the opportunity to help you onboard to Wheaton College well. Here are some questions that are frequently asked by our transfer students. We welcome additional questions at academic.advising@wheaton.edu. See you on campus soon!

When and how should I expect to hear how my credits will transfer to Wheaton College?

Wheaton College provides transfer evaluation upon Admissions to Wheaton College. Admitted students should work with their Admissions Counselor to start the evaluation process. Your counselor will need either an official or unofficial record of all transcripts or score reports to include:

  • Advanced Placement (AP) tests with scores (contact the College Board for your scores)
  • ACT English Language Arts (ELA) subtest score
  • SAT Essay Scores for reading, writing, and analysis, if taken before June 2021
  • SAT Subject Exams for languages
  • High School Seal of Biliteracy
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) credit
  • Cambridge Level A or Level AS credit
  • Dual Enrollment credit (including courses in progress & planned courses)
  • Community College or 4-year college credit (including courses in progress & planned courses)

The How to Transfer Credit page has additional information about sending official records to Wheaton College. Official records are required for awarding credit, but unofficial records can be used to provide you with an evaluation.

How will my grades at another school affect my GPA at Wheaton?

Wheaton does not transfer grades, only credits, so your grades at another college will not affect your GPA at Wheaton.

How can I register for classes?

Watch your Wheaton email!

For students admitted for the fall term: The Academic Advising Office will send more information to you in May as you prepare to register in the month of June.

For Spring admitted students: The Academic Advising Office will send more information to you in November as you prepare to register in the months of December.

You can read through the information provided for incoming first-year students to understand the process and the tools you will use for registration.

How can I get more help?

We require all transfer students to make an appointment with an Academic Advisor prior to registration to answer any questions you may have. Part of this meeting is confirming which official records our office has received and which records are outstanding. For Fall admitted students, these meetings typically take place in May. For Spring students these meetings typically take place in December. You can make an appointment with an advisor here. You will need to use your Wheaton College login and password to access this scheduling tool.
