Consultations

SGI staff provides clinical consultations related to sexual and gender identity concerns.

Consultations are typically on gender or sexual identity and range from two hours to all-day. For shorter, two-hour parent or spouse consultations, a virtual consultation may be an option. Dr. Yarhouse adheres to the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT®), allowing telepsychology and temporary in-person psychology services across state boundaries. If you reside in a PSYPACT state, you can request either an online or in-person consultation based on service appropriateness. The PSYPACT Commission, governing PSYPACT, grants psychologists the authority to provide telepsychology services. Please feel free to discuss your preferences, and together we will determine the most suitable consultation mode for your needs. Your comfort and convenience are our top priorities, and we are dedicated to delivering high-quality psychological services within the PSYPACT framework.

The longer, all-day consultations are typically gender evaluations to determine whether gender dysphoria is present, identify potential co-occurring concerns, and offer recommendations for next steps. These consultations are scheduled with consideration for a family's schedule, especially if they are from out-of-state. Dr. Yarhouse employs various assessment approaches, such as in-depth clinical and developmental interviews and various self-report measures. These consultations often conclude with tailored recommendations for parents, offering specific applications based on a family's circumstances.

In addition to serving families, our consultation services extend to therapists, professional organizations, churches, parachurch ministries, and colleges and universities. Consultations are provided in collaboration with Providence Consulting and Clinical Services, P.C.
