Rob '79 and Nancy were married after completion of Family Practice residency; within a few months they boarded a flight for Zimbabwe. Thus began an adventure stretching more than 30 years serving the Lord through medical ministry in Africa. Along the way, God blessed them with six amazing sons, and many life-long ministry friends and fellow-workers; training in tropical medicine in Liverpool; a constantly-challenging and satisfying practice of medicine and surgery among the poor; and the experience of His living Presence, both in escapades of our personal lives as a family, and in the wards and operating rooms of remote African hospitals. After a decade living and working in South Sudan, where you find some of the world's most-neglected diseases, as well as some of the world's most-neglected peoples we have taken up the task of encouraging and helping establish the next generation of medical missionaries in the neglected corners of the world. God is true to His Promise: 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.'
Rob's Wheaton experience, both in academics and in those first fledgling efforts in leadership through inner-city ministries, was life-changing. For that, we are grateful to God."
