Someone once told me, “Choices between good and bad are generally easy to make. The difficult choices involve distinguishing between better and best.” Economics is the study of making this distinction. I’m thrilled to have a job that requires me to take the tools economics has to offer and to place them in the hands of students at Wheaton College. My research interests are rather broad with an emphasis on using macroeconomic models to understand patterns in the business cycle and to advise economic policy.
Prior to returning to the academic arena, I worked as an Actuary with Allstate Insurance Company and spent time in Guatemala working with a Christian organization designed to provide microloans to those living in and around the Guatemala City garbage dump. Outside of Wheaton College, I enjoy playing sports, piano and spending time with my amazing wife Alissa and our three children.
