Dr. Carleigh Schoenleber comes to Wheaton after serving for ten years as a classroom teacher in many different grades at the elementary level. She has taught in both public and private schools in Illinois, providing a wealth of experience to share with Wheaton students as they seek God’s call for their teaching careers. She has done adjunct work in higher education at other Division 3 universities in the area as well. She began serving at Wheaton as a clinical placement supervisor for student teachers in the field and has continued to add more courses and responsibilities each year. A Wheaton alumnus of the Education program, she is committed to further mentoring and developing the next generation of educators to be agents of change in their future classrooms. 

Her research has focused on mentoring for pre-service teachers, peer-coaching, and best practices in technology integration in the classroom. With a wide range of classroom experiences across different schools and grade levels, she is passionate about promoting positive and collaborative professional relationships across any context. She is well-versed in technology integration, not only from her own classroom experiences with technology, but from her doctoral research on the positive impact of peer-coaching on technology integration in the classroom. She is committed to training educators to use technology to enhance their teaching using research-based best practices promoting digital discernment and stewardship. 

Dr. Schoenleber lives in Wheaton, Illinois with her husband and three children. She enjoys serving at her local church, finding quiet moments for her personal devotions and Bible study, as well as working out and spending time with her family. She loves being active and spending time outdoors with her husband and kids. She especially loves hiking and loves traveling out West to the mountains. A former Wheaton swimmer, she still loves spending time in the water whenever possible, especially with her children. She is grateful and humbled to give back to the Education program that prepared and fueled her to pursue teaching and now higher education.
