Creation Care and People Care
In today's world, where we face tough social and environmental problems, there's a growing need for knowledgeable Christians who can contribute meaningful solutions. That's where the Certificate in Environmental Sustainability comes in. It's designed to give students both the theoretical understanding and the practical skills to tackle sustainability challenges head-on.
The program starts with an intense eight-week "Summer in Sustainability" in the Black Hills of South Dakota, held every other summer. Here, students dive into the basics of environmental sustainability and learn how to turn those ideas into action. They explore outdoors, go on field trips, and work on real sustainability projects at the Wheaton College Field Station. This hands-on approach bridges the gap between theory and practice, all while remaining firmly rooted in a Christian worldview.
To tailor their experience, students can choose from a variety of elective courses that match their interests and deepen their understanding of sustainability.
