Winnie Fung - Assistant Professor of Economics
Dr. Fung studies the causal links between health and economic development, especially in developing countries. She studies the long-term health and economic effects of infectious and chronic diseases and seeks to understand their impacts at both the individual and country level. She is also interested in the economic implications of the epidemiological and nutrition transition in developing countries. She hopes that her work will help inform public health debates and contribute to the design of appropriate policies and programs to improve the health and economic conditions of people. Dr. Fung attends Chinese Christian Union Church. She has been on short-term missions trips to China, Philippines, North Africa, England, Sweden, and the West Bank, working with high-school and university students, restaurant workers, and urban slum communities.
