Student Technology Advisory Committee

Proposes improvements to campus services and technology.

The Student Technology and Auxiliary Services Advisory Committee is a Technology@Wheaton governance advisory committee chaired by a representative from Student Government who is invested solutions for technology, the campus store, dining, housing, and post office services on campus. It provides ideas and feedback and makes recommendations to the Chief Information Officer (CIO).

    • School of Psychology, Counseling, and Family Therapy

Purpose

The Student Technology and Auxiliary Services Advisory Committee is to provide a venue for student representatives to propose improvements to campus technology and services; voice issues experienced with campus technology and services; and provide feedback to the CIO on any relevant technology and auxiliary services initiatives. The feedback from students will guide the CIO in establishing and maintaining a strategic vision for technology and auxiliary services at Wheaton College.

Objectives

The primary objective of technology and auxiliary services on campus is to support learning and the overall student experience. Recognizing this, it is of utmost importance that students be involved in selecting and guiding technology and auxiliary service initiatives and understanding the rationale behind investments at the college.  The Student Technology and Auxiliary Services Advisory Committee establishes a structure for student input to be heard and responded to on a regular basis.

Selection Process

The Student Government Executive Vice President (EVP) of Technology and Campus Services will be responsible for the selection of undergraduate student representatives for each meeting. She/he will recruit members from both the Finance and Technology Committee and from the broader student body to ensure representation from the different divisions of the college. The Graduate School is responsible for selecting the graduate representative. The goal is to have ten undergrads and one or two grad students on the committee.  The student representatives will include a variety of class years, academic divisions and schools, ethnic backgrounds, and gender.

Operating Principles

The committee shall meet once per quad, for a total of four meetings per year, and will be initiated by the EVP of Technology and Campus Services. She/he will reach out to the CIO to organize and schedule the meeting.
