Contact Wheaton Archives & Special Collections with Your Reference Questions
Wheaton Archives & Special Collections receives hundreds of requests for information a year, and we strive to respond to both in-person and virtual reference requests promptly and thoroughly. While the Archives encourages individuals to visit the Manuscripts Reading Room in person to use archival materials, we understand that many researchers are unable to travel to use our resources.
Due to staff and time limitations, the archivists can spend no more than a half an hour assisting an individual researcher. Any request requiring extensive research must either be done in person by the patron or be directed to proxy research services. Please contact the Archives for our current list of proxy researchers.
When submitting a reference request, please provide as many details as possible, such as collection names, specific call numbers for archival materials, or full names of individuals. Users may wish to search the Archives’ collections database for more information about individual items or collections and to narrow their reference questions.
